Seedance 2.0 Fast and Mini: inputs and limits

View as Markdown

Fast and Mini are separate Seedance 2.0 variants, not modes of Seedance 2.5. As reviewed on 28 October 2026, both document 4–15 seconds at 480p or 720p and the 2.0-family input limits. The inspected ChatCut integration exposes both selectors. Configured Ark checks timed out, so this reference does not claim a newly completed boundary test or production-wide availability.

Exact identities and output limits

The Ark IDs are shown below. BytePlus uses the corresponding dreamina-seedance-2-0-fast-260128 and dreamina-seedance-2-0-mini-260615 IDs. A model ID at one provider does not prove another provider’s entitlement.

Which inputs can I combine?

Use one of these modes: text only; one first frame; a first frame plus last frame; or multimodal references. A last frame requires a first frame, and frame inputs cannot mix with reference mode. The documented reference budget is up to 9 images, 3 videos and 3 audio files. Audio references require at least one image or video reference; audio-only input is not a 2.0-family mode.

Reference videos and audios are each 2–15 seconds, with a 15-second aggregate budget per type. Counts alone do not make a request valid. Native documentation also lists image less than 30 MB, video ≤200 MB, audio ≤15 MB and an aggregate request limit; ChatCut attachment handling may add stricter limits. Check generation references before submitting. These are documented/exposed rules, not successful boundary jobs from the timed-out Ark probe. Official task API.

Is Mini a draft mode? Is Fast always faster?

Mini performs ordinary generation with its own model ID. It is distinct from the Seedance 2.5 Draft-to-final API, which is not exposed by the inspected ChatCut tool. Neither Fast nor Mini offers a 1080p or 4K generation tier in the checked specification. Mini is not 720p-only. The native audio-off control is not exposed by the inspected ChatCut video tool; these variants expose no edit, extend or Draft mode.

No matched speed or quality test is supplied for these variants. The word Fast does not establish a completion-time promise. Full 2.0 and 2.5 have different resolution and duration ceilings; compare them in the model matrix.

Make and edit a short reference-led clip

1

Choose a short test

In Video Gen, choose the Fast or Mini option actually shown in your build. Start with a five-second 16:9 clip at 480p and a simple action.

2

Choose one input mode

Use text alone, or attach one first-frame image. Describe the subject, action and camera direction; do not mix frame inputs with multimodal references.

3

Review the estimate and output

Check the quoted model and settings before submitting. After completion, inspect motion, reference fidelity and audio, then place or keep the clip on the timeline for trimming, captions and assembly.

Example prompt: “A red paper boat moves slowly across a puddle, low static camera, one continuous shot.” A single-shot instruction is a request, not a continuity guarantee. For multiple shots, describe their order and inspect the cuts; 2.0 timestamps are not guaranteed. A completed video clip is editable as timeline media, not as separately editable generated objects.

How should I compare credits?

Use the current preflight estimate and Credits Policy. Compare the same model provider, account cohort, resolution, aspect ratio, output duration and reference-video duration on the same quote date. Input video and provider token settlement can affect the charge; Agent usage is separate. The saved Fast/Mini launch promotion ended on 7 September 2026, so this page gives no active percentage discount or current-price example.

If the option is missing, a request times out or validation fails, check workflow failures and the video generation guide. A timeout does not prove the model is unsupported.

Frequently asked questions

Is Seedance Mini limited to 720p?
No. The checked API lists both 480p and 720p for Mini and Fast, with 4–15-second output.
Can I use only an audio reference?
Not in the documented 2.0-family reference mode: audio needs at least one image or video reference. Seedance 2.5 has a different native audio-reference contract.
Can I add a last frame without a first frame?
No. Fast and Mini frame mode require a first frame when a last frame is present. Frame inputs also cannot mix with multimodal references.
Is Mini the same as Seedance 2.5 Draft?
No. Mini is a separate ordinary-generation model. Seedance 2.5 Draft-to-final is a separate native API workflow and has no input in the inspected ChatCut tool.
Which variant is cheaper or faster today?
This review has no matched current quote or controlled speed test. Compare the preflight estimates at identical settings and do not reuse the expired launch discount.
